PHILIPSBURG:--- To observe the anniversary of the partition of the island of St. Maarten / St. Martin, the students of the M.A.C. Browlia Maillard Campus, and the Aline Hanson School in Sandy Ground participated in a friendly running race to reenact aspects of the legend or myth of how the island was divided.

The activity, which was held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 8:30 am – 10:30am, saw the participation of more than 160 students from both the northern and southern side of the island.

The primary goals of the race were to promote cooperation between education institutions on both sides of the island; to develop cooperation based on our common history, to create student ambassadors of peace and friendship to promote UNESCO’s international values; to strengthen students’ sense of belonging to a “Friendly Island”; to inspire social cohesion by uniting citizens from various backgrounds; and to promote a healthy living style through engaging in sport activities.

MARIGOT:--- The Collectivite of St-Martin is going to start an inventory of the Built heritage of Saint-Martin in order to identify, to know better and value its historical and cultural heritage. For that purpose, and to oversee the project, two companies, EURL Robin-Clerc and Art2 Conseil, has been chosen. They are represented by Michèle ROBIN-CLERC, expert architect and town planner and Elisabeth DANDEL, historian of the art, specialist of the cultural inventory.

MARIGOT/GREAT BAY:--- “An expression of pain and pride is the best way to describe the Memorial ACTe,” said Shujah Reiph on his recent return from visiting the state-of-the-art museum in Guadeloupe.
The Memorial ACTe museum was built on the seaside grounds of the former Darboussier sugarcane refinery, said Reiph, president of St. Martin’s Conscious Lyrics Foundation (CLF).
